Premier Li Qiang's "New Energy Voice"
According to Xinhua News Agency, on March 11th, the National People's Congress voted unanimously to appoint Li Qiang as the Premier of the State Council of the People's Republic of China.
Li Qiang, born in July 1959 in Rui'an, Zhejiang Province, started work in July 1976 and joined the CPC in April 1983. He has a graduate degree from the Central Party School and a master's degree in business administration for senior managers.
During his 47 year career, Li Qiang served as the main leader in Zhejiang Province, Jiangsu Province, and Shanghai, with rich experience in local governance. On December 2, 2014, the symposium on creating a national clean energy demonstration province in Zhejiang Province was held in Hangzhou. Li Qiang, then the Governor of Zhejiang Province, attended the meeting and delivered a speech.
Li Qiang stated that Zhejiang is a province with a large energy consumption and a small province with traditional fossil energy resources. Zhejiang has the determination and ability to build a clean energy demonstration province. On August 5, 2015, Li Qiang conducted research on the development of the new energy vehicle industry in Yuhang. He emphasized that a new round of energy revolution and technological wave has arrived, and we need to seize the opportunities of rapid growth in global demand for new energy vehicles and increasing national support, strengthen technological innovation guided by user demand, promote positive interaction between research and development, production, promotion and application, and accelerate the development of new energy vehicles, leading the country.
Li Qiang pointed out that new energy vehicles are connected to the high-end equipment manufacturing industry at one end and the information industry at the other. On May 5, 2019, Li Qiang visited the Shanghai Guoneng New Energy Vehicle Project located in Songjiang. We should focus on leading industries, advantageous industries, characteristic industries, and emerging industries, introduce a group of leading enterprises and strategic projects, and consciously cultivate and support good enterprises and projects with great potential and strong driving force. In July 2018, Shanghai stood out among a group of cities, attracting Tesla's super factory to settle. Tesla Shanghai Super Factory is a wholly foreign-owned vehicle manufacturing project in China and also Tesla's super factory outside the United States.
After Tesla decided to settle in Shanghai, the super factory made rapid progress and began construction in January 2019. On September 26th, it was announced that the construction had been completed; Obtain production qualification the following month and start producing Model 3.
